Counterlight Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 18, 2026

Counterlight is a camera app that runs entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.

What we don’t collect

Permissions we request

Camera — Required. Used solely for live preview and photo capture inside the app.

Photos (Add only) — Optional. Used only when you choose to save a photo from Counterlight to your camera roll. This permission does not allow Counterlight to read your existing photos.

Where your photos live

Photos you take with Counterlight are stored locally in the app’s private container on your device. They are never uploaded, synced, or backed up by Counterlight. Deleting the app from your device removes all of Counterlight’s data along with it.

If you choose to export a photo to your camera roll using “Save to Photos,” that photo then lives in Apple’s Photos library and is subject to Apple’s iCloud Photos behavior — not anything Counterlight controls.

Children

Counterlight does not collect data from anyone, including children. There is no age-restricted processing because there is no processing.

Changes to this policy

If anything material changes, we will update this page and the date above. The change history is publicly visible in the git history of this repository.
